On october 25 we participated in Take Me Outside Day with our buddy class. Here students explored patterns in nature, color, and contrast as they create earth-friendly sculptures outside. In preparation for this day we showed photographs of Andy Goldsworthy’s artwork and asked students to prepare and draw out a sketch of their potential earth-friendly art sculpture. While outside, students were asked to collect and arrange materials in a way that doesn’t harm their surroundings. This helped students develop a respect for natural living and nonliving things. In addition, this activity helped students develop an appreciation for how versatile art can be while exploring their own creative process.
